Netizens have been shocked by the latest in a whole series of prank photographs posted on Twitter.

Over the past few months, prank photographs have been everywhere, with some not only attracting significant online attention, but also resulting in serious repercussions for those involved.

Now, a man thought to be a university student is at the centre of a scandal for inserting a drinking-water tap at a public park into his now public posterior.

Are these prank photos showing Japan’s lighter side? Or are they taking things a step too far?

From Yahoo! Japan:

Man Inserts Park Tap Into His Bottom, Endless Prank Photos Posted Online

In the never-ending series of prank pictures posted on networks such as Twitter, a photograph where a man who looks to be a student in his twenties takes down his trousers in a public park and seems to stick a water tap into his bottom was posted online. The poster tweeted “Getting filled up”.

The man in the picture is apparently a student registered with the law faculty of Kokugakuin University (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo). The photograph was actually uploaded on May 10, but the university’s office of student affairs explained that “Information about the picture only reached us in late August. We are in the middle of an investigation, which includes finding out whether or not the man in the picture is one of our students. Our response to the picture will be decided after this.”

It is possible that the act of revealing the lower half of one’s body in a public place can amount to the crime of indecent exposure. The location of the park where the photograph was taken is unknown. The man has already deleted his Twitter account.

Arrest him.

Won’t this turn into a criminal investigation?

These people really don’t think of the consequences.
It’s really just like they’re 12 year olds.

Completely idiotic. Nothing to say.

If this is a criminal act then how come a law student didn’t realise?

They’ll get compensation for having to change the tap.

Well, this is just ordinary criminal damage.

Looks like he’s gonna get hemorrhoids.

Wasn’t there something else they could charge him with regarding water for drinking?

Comments from Yahoo! Japan:

He seems to want to stand out, so please, let him stand out.
Hope he never has any regrets about it.

Boasting about being a homo…keep that stuff within 2-chome [Shinjuku’s gay district], scum.

dog*****:

At the very least, they should sue him for the cost of replacing the tap.

TUBA:

Under the law, this is criminal damage.

euplo w from:

Utterly stupid. Reveal his name and his face.

lef*****:

Aren’t people going to find this funny and imitate it because it’s getting reported in the news?
Still, there are a lot of idiots about who don’t think of the consequences of what they do.

This proliferation of idiots just doesn’t stop.

Seems to me that the age for doing pranks is going up.

ats*****:

A park should be a place where children come to play and use that tap.
Despite that, I can’t believe that anyone would do something so dirty.
Plus they still can’t identify the park and stuff.
Because of this, there are probably some people who think that parents shouldn’t take their kids to the park.
I really hope that they will identify the person who posted this and the name of the park soon…
