‘Frustrated’ Girl Sets Fire To Building With Lighter

A girl sets fire to a building in Japan because she's "pissed off"

We all have bad days at work, but recently a Japanese teenager took her frustrations with her employers to an extreme when she set fire to a building because she was “pissed off”.

Netizens are angry that despite being 19, her name and picture are not being made public, since under Japanese law she is still a minor.

From Yahoo! Japan:

19 Year-Old Girl Arrested For Arson ‘Because I Was Pissed Off’.

A 19 year-old girl has been arrested for setting fire to a children’s centre due to feeling dissatisfied with her company.

The girl, a company employee, was arrested on suspicion of arson of an uninhabited building. According to the police, in the middle of the night on April 9 the girl used a lighter to set fire to Taniguchi children’s club on the premises of an elementary school in Sagamihara, Kanagawa prefecture. It is suspected that she burned things such as the floor. Nobody was injured by the fire.

The next day, due to the broken glass in the windows, the police investigated and straight after they found a girl alone in a park around 100 meters away from the scene. They arrested her after confirming her participation in the arson.

In response to the police’s investigation, the girl is reported to be saying that “I felt dissatisfied with the way my company was treating me, and I got mad and started a fire.”

Comments from Twitter:

ザク:

Even at the age of 19, setting fire to things because you got mad is no different to an elementary school student.

What a scary world we’re living in〜. There must have been another solution to her problem than committing a crime.

saorin (s):

If I were to set fire to things for the same reason, I would have done it so many times

十六夜提督@ゲーム名はトランザム:

If she’s already working, I think it’s okay not to treat her as a “girl” though..

KURAO (蔵オ):

If you’re “dissatisfied with the treatment from your company”, don’t set fire to buildings not even related to it!

vitamin:

Is this the western world or something?

ドクター差別:

If she were 14 or 15 I’d understand but surely a 19 year-old shouldn’t be called a “girl” anymore? She appears to be working as well….

ネギとろ:

Since she’s a working adult, release her name! If you’re going to set fire to things, please set yourself on fire. Don’t set fire to other things.

れいやん:

If people like this don’t get the death penalty, I can’t live my life with peace of mind. Her name and family information should also be released.

こうじ KOJI:

I understand how she feels but this is not okay ( ̄ー ̄)

鮎川佑:

If the motivation was dissatisfaction with her company, I would kind of be able to get my head around her setting fire to her company building or president, but why did she set fire to a place with seemingly no connection?

初見ちゃん(=゚ω゚)y-〜:

The price of compensation for this will be massive though.

伴太:

Is a 19 year-old a ‘girl’?

クルプルー:

I wish they’d use the real names and show pictures of minors, too.

west÷woman:

Girls are scary.
